Nestled in the heart of Phoenix at 4740 E Warner Rd, Hillside Spot is an inviting American restaurant and café that perfectly captures the spirit of a vibrant breakfast and brunch destination. Specializing in fresh, flavorful dishes crafted from real, high-quality ingredients, this spot offers a welcome alternative to the usual fast-food fare. Whether you’re settling in for a leisurely morning or grabbing a quick bite, Hillside Spot serves up a menu bursting with bold flavors and comforting classics.
The culinary experience here is genuinely satisfying. Start your day with their signature Breakfast Burrito, a hearty, flavor-packed option that reflects authentic southwestern flair. For something indulgent yet balanced, the Croque Madame melds creamy Gruyere cheese with savory ham and a perfectly cooked egg, elevated even further by a delicate, savory aioli. Fans of Mexican-inspired dishes will adore the Chilaquiles Verdes—layers of crisp corn tortillas, mesquite-cooked chicken, Oaxaca cheese, and a vibrant green ranchero sauce, crowned with eggs cooked just the way you like them, from sunny side up to soft boiled. It’s a symphony of textures and tastes that dance across the palate.
The breakfast handmade crepes are a true highlight, with a sweet trio served alongside honey, strawberries, and nutella that offer a light yet indulgent start. For those craving savory, the ham and Gruyere crepes present a beautifully melted richness contrasted by a subtle tang of aioli, a must-try for crepe lovers. Meanwhile, the breakfast house specials like Huevos Rancheros Verde and the tempting Breakfast Tortas and Sandwiches provide hearty, well-rounded meals perfect to fuel a day of adventure or relaxation.
The atmosphere at Hillside Spot enhances the dining experience significantly. The blend of indoor and outdoor seating offers a comfortable and inviting setting, whether you want to enjoy the Arizona sunshine or a cozy meal indoors. It’s an ideal spot for a casual brunch with friends, a family breakfast, or a quiet moment to savor a perfectly brewed coffee alongside a fresh fruit cup or the famously crisp chips and salsa, which longtime patrons, like Mia Liebe, have loved for years. The lively yet laid-back ambiance complements the thoughtful service, ensuring you feel welcome and well cared for from the moment you arrive.
What truly sets Hillside Spot apart is the commitment to quality and authenticity. As one customer, Ry Sedrick, remarked, “The wait was worth it if you want to eat food with real and fresh ingredients, not from Sysco or US Foods.” That dedication shines through each dish, from the smoky Carne Asada to the juicy BBQ Burger and the inviting Asado Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Even adventurous tasters can delight in the Salsa Flight, sampling a variety of house-made salsas that add an exciting dimension to every bite.
While some guests, like Jennifer Chesley, have found portions a bit modest and pricing slightly higher than casual diners might expect, most agree that the freshness, inviting atmosphere, and quick, friendly service make Hillside Spot a truly worthwhile destination. Greg Eakins’s experience sums it up well: a slightly upscale brunch spot offering freshness and health-conscious options that don’t sacrifice taste—even after a long run, the meals were satisfying, and the staff attentive.
In essence, Hillside Spot isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a cherished Phoenix gem where every ingredient tells a story. Whether you seek a leisurely brunch to savor, a flavorful to-go meal, or a fresh, hearty breakfast to jumpstart your day, Hillside Spot promises a memorable dining experience crafted with care, creativity, and genuine flavor.

For those times you need a quick, delicious meal in Arizona without resorting to fast-food chains, The Hillside Spot is a must-visit. This hidden restaurant is a true gem, offering incredible food that's ready fast. I was able to grab a to-go order that was miles better than any fast-food alternative, with fresh, flavorful ingredients that made for a truly satisfying meal. The Hillside Spot proves that you don't have to sacrifice quality for convenience, making it the perfect spot for anyone who wants a great meal on the go.
I've been coming to this place since I was a teenager so since moving back to tukee, I'm so stoked that this place is still thriving! I looove their chips and salsa. when I was a teenager I would come mostly for that and a quesadilla. the tomatillo salsa is amazing! I usually go more lunch food than breakfast, I feel like vegetarian breakfast options are pricey for what they are (however this complaint is not unique to hillside). I don't eat meat so I love that they don't upcharge for substituting a veggie pattie. overall I recommend this place a ton to people who want a unique, local spot in ahwatukee. the menu is extensive and I'm impressed by the amount of options in the kitchen. everything I've had has been tasty although I will say it depends on what you get for feeling like you got a good bang for your buck. some of the dishes, like the guacamole, is expensive for the portion and it doesn't have any salt, which is interesting. the veggie torta is incredible, I'd recommend that over the veggie burrito, the sautéed veggies are pretty oily which made the burrito a lot messier. still good just harder to eat. my chai was great and the staff have always been courteous.
Really liked this place for its atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, good service, food was good but we paid a bit more for what we like compared to other places so we probably won't return. Husband and I wanted pancakes with a traditional eggs/hash browns/sausage or bacon combo but they don't offer that. We got the pancakes and then were charged separately for eggs, hash browns and sausage. I mean, it was good but I paid $5 for a sausage link. Kind of disappointing. Glad we tried it, but we won't pay that again.
A slightly fancy brunch/cafe with some more upscale food options. You generally get less food for your buck than with some of the more budget places (one of our crew ordered two meals), but it does seem fresher and healthier than your average cheap bacon and eggs breakfast. We just finished a marathon here and were pretty hungry. Service was great, and we didn't have to wait to get in.
Can't believe we'd never been here before. A nice breakfast lunch spot. It's way bigger on the inside than it appears to be from the outside. We didn't have to wait very long for a table of 4, maybe 5 minutes tops. I got the Cuban because I wanted hot and tangy and buy did it deliver. It was a pressed sandwich and it tasted like something I'd make at home, I was very impressed. The fries were good and we could order them unseasoned for our son. Our son got the adult sized grilled cheese which we loved but he did not enjoy the cheese because of course it wasn't just standard American cheese but he ate enough to fill up. Can't wait to go back, now I just need to decide if I'll try something else because how can I skip the Cuban Pressed Sandwich now knowing how good it is???
I like the atmosphere for a brunch style restaurant. It's not too noisy and for a Saturday the food came out quickly. The server was on point offering a suggestion without commenting on the item being questioned. Well done! The food was okay, not very flavored but good. Not much food given considering it was chips, but I wasn't hungry after eating. I had the brisket sandwich which looked like pulled pork but had some flavor. The others ordered a burger which was small and the chicken pasta meal, which was plentiful but bland taste. I would go back again to try a breakfast meal and they have outdoor seating which is a plus. Not bad for the first visit
